About Custom Carrying Cases
Carrying cases, or carry cases, provide protection
for a wide variety of industrial items during shipping and
transportation. They are particularly useful in safeguarding fragile
items, such as medical, electronic and computer equipment. The item encased
and its application determine the criteria for creating the carry case
and its accessories. Buckle-and-straps are used to ensure cases remain
securely fastened during transportation. Straps are often made of nylon,
mil-spec, cotton and polyester. Zinc- or nickel-plated steel corners
increase sturdiness by alleviating stress and pressure applied to the
corners of carrying cases during transportation. While many manufacturers
provide stock sizes for items with standard dimensions, industrial designers
and engineers also fulfill requests for custom
carrying cases created for specific items, such as custom computer
carrying cases, custom laptop carrying cases and custom pc carrying
cases.
Carrying case manufacturers serve many industries, including sports, music, medical,
government, military, packaging, business, trade show, computer and pharmaceutical
industries. Electronic instrument
and medical cases are specifically designed, such as delicate scientific
electronic carrying cases, testing and electronic device carrying cases, pc carrying
cases, custom computer
carrying cases and laptop carrying cases. Monitor carrying cases are
used in the music industry and for computer applications. Military carry cases
are used in applications including computer workstation carrying cases, telecommunication
and GPS system carrying cases, armory carrying cases, weapon storage carrying
cases, sensitive instrument applications and tool and spare parts storage. Heavy-duty
carrying cases accommodate items through harsh situations, such as shipping,
in which they are likely to be dropped or pushed around. Light-duty carry cases
are suitable for items that will remain under personal care or those subjected
to a milder environment.
The durability of the carrying cases often depends on the material from which
the carrying cases are made. Plastic
carrying cases, aluminum carrying cases, leather carrying cases, polyester
carrying cases, plywood carrying cases, metal carrying cases, glass carrying
cases, cloth and nylon carrying cases are all manufacturable. Plastic and aluminum
are two of the most durable materials. Both are versatile materials that range
in strength, resistance, density and flexibility. Industrial designers use plastic
and aluminum to create strong, insulating, chemically-resistant carrying cases.
These materials also determine the texture of the carrying cases. Soft carrying
cases often consist of materials like leather, cloth and nylon. This type of
material is typically seen used in the creation of laptop carrying cases. Hard
carrying cases usually consist of materials such as metal, glass and wood. PC
carrying cases are an example of these hard carrying cases. PC carrying cases
typically made of metal. Molded carrying cases consist of different forms of
plastic and often have a rougher texture than soft or hard carrying cases. They
can be made using blow
molding and rotational
molding.

Types of Carrying Cases
- contain an insulator that resists
electrostatic discharge, providing protection to sensitive electronic
equipment.
- are
cases that meet the guidelines set by the Air Transport Association
of America (ATA),
a federal
organization that
sets the guidelines
for the testing of cases and containers.
- are
cases made of lightweight, blow-molded polyethylene and are virtually
unbreakable,
tolerate high and low temperatures, resist
chemicals and are rustproof, dent-proof and scratch resistant. Blow
molded cases are used to protect very fragile instrumentation, audio/visual
equipment, medical equipment and for OEM applications.
- fold up, allowing for easy storage in tighter quarters. Collapsible
cases are usually made of aluminum.
- are designed to
carry PCs, laptops, monitors and other computer equipment.
- are used to transport items to be exhibited at conventions
or expositions.
- can be made to meet specific dimensions.
- are specifically
created to carry audio/visual equipment, recording equipment, batteries
and other sensitive tools.
- contain an insert, such as a polyethylene egg crate,
which is used to pad fragile items.
- are designed to carry items such as maps and blueprints.
- (HAZMAT) cases are specifically designed to transport
potentially harmful materials such as gas, explosives and
corrosives.
- protect vials, syringes, medicine and other
materials.
- must adhere to the strict
standards set forth by military branches such as the Army,
Air Force and Marine
Corps. Mil spec cases are used to carry radio backpacks,
antennae bags, etc.
- accommodate panels used to hold and separate field
service equipment.
- are durable containers that can be used for the transportation of materials.
- contain a rack or shelf on which equipment can be
stacked for accessible storage. Rack mount cases
accommodate equipment such as
computer networking application systems.
- hold and protect goods during shipping and transportation.
- shield mechanical and power tools, functioning in a manner
similar to that of a toolbox.
- are constructed from heavy duty material, are equipped
with a variety of hardware types and come in
a wide range of designs and configurations. Transit cases have varying
depths, as well.
- are advantageous in situations
in which items are exposed to hazardous weather conditions.
